Geraldine S. Stroka, B.S.N., R.N., M.S.N., J.D.
Ms. Stroka began her professional career as a registered nurse
and worked extensively in various clinical specialties at both
university and community hospitals and a county home health agency.
She also held positions as a medical research coordinator and
nurse administrator at a Veterans Administration hospital. As
an attorney, her area of expertise is tort litigation. Although
she specializes in medical malpractice litigation for plaintiff
and defense firms, she also works on class actions. After extensive
clinical and legal experience, she went on to become director
of risk management at two different facilities. At the first organization,
a county healthcare system, she established the risk management
program. At the second facility, a small inner-city hospital,
she not only developed the risk management program but also wrote
the compliance program manual. Ms. Stroka’s present position
is that of writer/analyst in the Healthcare Compliance Group/Health
Law Section at CCH Incorporated, a legal publisher. Her extensive
professional experience, healthcare contacts, and writing skills
have been well utilized in this role. Besides editorial responsibilities
such as lesson development for an internet-Based training program,
new product development, and writing for a compliance newsletter
and manual, she established a liaison with De Paul University
School of Law. Ms. Stroka received a B.S.N. and an M.S.N. from
Loyola University of Chicago. She received J.D. from The John
Marshall Law School, Chicago.
