We are a law firm of two attorneys: Harlan D. Karp and Paula E. Camino Fini, with a practice focus on U.S. Immigration and Nationality Law. In our earlier legal careers, both of us spent the majority of our time engaged in general litigation and handling the needs of small businesses and individuals.
About a decade ago, we both gravitated into immigration and naturalization law, which is our professional and intellectual home. We consider immigration law to be our calling. After working several years in a large immigration law firm, we founded our own immigration law firm in 2000 in order to better serve our clients. We found that our clients prefer a more hands on approach rather than an assembly line approach to immigration matters found at some larger immigration law firms. Our clients prefer one person handling their matters, start to finish, rather than bouncing from attorney to paralegal to attorney. Physician immigration issues are exceedingly complex and one does not serve clients by dabbling in this area of law. Although the majority of our clients are foreign physicians and researchers, we do handle other occupations and family- based immigration. Our clients come from all parts of the world and all walks of life.
Both of us are descendants of immigrants, whether as first or second generation Americans. Our ancestors fled their homelands to have better lives and had very humble backgrounds. We share the outlook of today’s immigrants, whether they are coming here as temporary workers, permanent residents, or as new citizens. Like our families who came to the United States to find their versions of the “American Dream,” we are dedicated to helping our clients, become part of their own version of the American dream. We believe in practicing law in a collegial fashion.
We are located in Cleveland, Ohio in the financial district of the downtown, and only two blocks from the baseball stadium and basketball arena.
