About the Firm |
| The Gray Law Firm, P.L.L.C.
primarily practices in the areas of criminal law and civil
litigation. It represents clients in state and federal
courts in Collin, Dallas, Kaufman, Tarrant, and Rockwall
counties, as well as other counties. |
| Most attorneys practice in only one area
of the law, for example criminal law, because it is difficult
to gain experience in more than one area. However, Mr.
Gray has had the opportunity to gain valuable experience
in both criminal and civil litigation (See attorney profile).
This is especially helpful when the two areas “mix”
in one case. For example purposes only, someone who is
the victim of fraud may need to sue whoever defrauded
him or her. Naturally, there will be a civil lawsuit in
the civil courts. Additionally, the person who was the
perpetrator of the fraud may be prosecuted in the criminal
courts as well. It helps to have an attorney who knows
how both court systems work to make sure the case goes
smoothly. |
| Many civil cases are document intensive.
The lawyer who practices civil litigation is accustomed
to handling cases with large numbers of documents. Many
criminal defense attorneys are not used to managing large
numbers of documents, and quite frankly do not care to.
However, in white collar crime cases, there may be hundreds
if not thousands of documents involved. There may be the
need to hire expert witnesses. To handle this responsibility
will be everyday territory for the civil attorney, but
it may be a foreign concept to some criminal defense attorneys.
That is why a firm with extensive experience in both areas
of the law may prove beneficial. |
